Ira Jacknis (1952-2021) was the head of research and publications at the Phoebe A. Hearst Museum of Anthropology at the University of California, Berkeley. He is the author of The Storage Box of Tradition: Kwakiutl Art, Anthropologists, and Museums, 1881-1981 (2002), Carving Traditions of Northwest California (2006), and other works.
