Roger Greenwald grew up in New York, where he attended The City College and the St. Mark's Church in the Bowery Poetry Project workshop. He has earned several major awards for his poetry and translations, including the poetry prize of the Nora Epstein National Competition (Canada), and the CBC Radio/Saturday Night Literary Award for Poetry. He has also held two NEA Translation Fellowships and was a finalist for the 2001 PEN Award for Poetry in Translation. He has published one previous book of poems, Connecting Flight, and several volumes of poetry in translation, most recently Guarding the Air: Selected Poems of Gunnar Harding.
