Tom Catalano is the author of eight books of poetry and two books of short stories. Tom's short stories are light science fiction and psychological suspense. "Many of my stories are sit-on-the edge-of-your-seat suspenseful. I like to take ordinary people and put them in extraordinary situations...then surprise the reader with an unexpected direction or outcome. Similar to what Rod Serling used to do in Twilight Zone." Several of Tom's short stories have been recognized in science fiction short story contests and have appeared in science fiction anthologies. His poems are often humorous, taking a lighthearted look at every day events such as having work dreams, vacations gone wrong, holidays, golfing, getting sick and more. His sentimental poems are heartwarming reflections of people, places and events. His poetry titles include: 'Rhyme and Reason, ' 'Poetry 'N Motion, ' 'Verse Things First, ' and 'I Dig Mud and Yellow Blood.' Three of his books of poetry are aimed toward children, grades K-8. These include: Rhymes for Kids, 'Jelly In My Belly, ' and 'Rhymes for Teens.' Originally from the Chicago suburbs, Tom has read his work at bookstores throughout Illinois as well as Oregon, Wisconsin, Indiana, Missouri, Nevada, Arizona, and Pennsylvania. His poems have appeared in newspapers and magazines across the country and in Canada. He has given poetry presentations at hundreds of schools, libraries, churches, and community events. His short stories have appeared in science fiction anthologies. He has been interviewed twice on WTAJ-TVs Central PA Live. He is a Liturgical Reader and the parish council secretary at his church. He is a member of the Knights of Columbus and volunteers with the American Rescue Workers -- the local food bank in his community.
