When Bailey was eight years old she was watching TV and became inspired by a comment from astrophysicist and cosmologist, Neil deGrasse Tyson. He said that all life, including us, is made from the same star stuff. She was so excited by that idea that she immediately went up to the family computer and started writing. Bailey worked with her father over the next year to develop a story that would explore that concept along with other areas of science such as evolution and astronomy. They have worked with professional scientists to review the book's content to ensure that every fact is 100% accurate. While releasing her book at BEA/NYC in 2017, she was interviewed by Helen Little for The Public Library Podcast for iHeartRadio about her love of science and writing.
