John Rockwell is senior cultural correspondent of the New York Times. He was the founding director of the Lincoln Center Festival and is the author of All American Music: Composition in the Late Twentieth Century (1983), which was nominated for a National Book Circle Critics award, and Sinatra: An American Classic (1984).
