Fr. Theophilus Riesinger (1868 - 1941), the exorcist of Begone Satan!, was ordained a priest in 1899. He was a Capuchin Franciscan. Although he was born in Germany, he later resided in Marathon, Wisconsin, in the United States, and performed the exorcism of Begone Satan! in Iowa.
