Marie Anderson is an artist, quilter and teacher from the Pacific Northwest Region of the United States. Growing up in the Pacific NW, she has brought her love of nature and natural color to her art. This orientation influences and inspires much of her work. Her lifelong love of sewing and creating art is evident in the items she creates today. Anderson's first foray into sewing was creating doll clothes by hand. Taught by her mom, she learned to sew, knit, macram, tat, hook rugs, quilt and watch nature. Being a competing athlete as a teen has given her a desire to be the best in whatever field she is involved with. Her natural instinct about use of color has allowed her to enter the world of quilting one step ahead of the average person. Anderson raised 6 children over the last 30 years. She has 17 grandchildren and one other on the way. She is an accomplished seamstress, artist and quilter. Whether it is making wedding dresses, baby clothes, prom dressed or tents and bags for camping she has used her skills to create art in her life. She has designed her own patterns and followed her own path but also learned from the best teachers in the industry. In 2010 her life took a significant turn when she and her mother started quilting and sewing together again. In 2015 her mother decided they needed a long arm to enhance their quilting hobby. Marie's father, being the practical business man insisted that they have a business to support this activity - thus Marie's Custom Quilting was born. In the short time that Marie has been in business she has won numerous awards including the Reader's Choice Award for 2018 and 2019, International quilt show awards and Viewer's Choice Awards. Her latest endeavor includes quilting leather wall hangings, leather journals and leather clothes. She is a sought after artist for designing one of a kind quilts from t-shirts and or clothes. This latest activity has inspired the following book.
