Rachel Black married in 1988 only to discover that her husband did not want children. It took her six months to decide at a rational level to accept his decision and stay married, but a further five, extremely painful years to begin to learn to live emotionally with the fact that she would never be a mother, a process which is ongoing. She has a degree in Law from Warwick University and initially practised as a solicitor in the City, before changing career. Since 1987, she has run her own consumer research consultancy. Rachel is committed to supporting childless women and informing society of the issues arising. She gives talks and lectures on the subject to the public, medical and healthcare professions.
