Born in Belfast in 1964, Richard Dunwoody made his debut under Rules in 1982, and went on to win all the major races, becoming the most successful jockey of all time when he overhauled Peter Scudamore's record of 1678 winners. He retired in December 1999 with a record 1699 winners.
