Lois Walpole studied at St Martin's School of Art and the London College of Furniture and has been making baskets ever since. Her basket making reflects the environment in which she lives - she utilises a wide range of waste materials and likes to describe herself as an 'urban basket maker'. Her work has been exhibited around the world, including solo exhibitions in England and Wales and shows in North America, Scandanavia, continental Europe and the Far East. Lois is included on the Craft Council Select Index and her work is permanently featured in the Craft Council Collection in London. Recently, the Victoria and Albert Museum purchased one of her pieces for their twentieth-century collection. Lois runs her own company to market limited editions, she writes for various magazines, she has appeared on television and she still finds time to teach. She lives in London with her husband John Brennan, who is a sculptor.
