Carol Rocamora is an educator, playwright, biographer, translator and critic. She has served on the faculty of New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts since 1993, and also currently teaches at The Juilliard School. She has translated the complete dramatic works of Anton Chekhov published in three volumes, and has adapted 20 Chekhov’s short stories into full length and one act plays (published in two additional volumes called Rubles). She is also the author of “I take your hand in mine,” an original play based on the correspondence between Chekhov and the actress Olga Knipper. She is the author of two biographies: Anton Chekhov: A Life in Four Acts, and Acts of Courage: Vaclav Havel’s Life in the Theatre. She is a member of the American Theatre Critics Association, the Outer Critics Circle, and Drama Desk. She lives in New York City.
