Thomas Stahl earned his MS degree in building physics and engineering from the University of Applied Sciences in Stuttgart and his second MS degree in building refurbishment from the University of Weimar. He has longtime working experience in the Building Science and Technology Laboratory of the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology (Empa) as building physicist and material developer (aerogel insulation plaster, moisture buffering plaster). From 2014 to 2019 he has been engaged in the development of innovative building materials in the R&D of Swiss Industrial companies serving as research team leader and managing director. Since 2016, he is co-founder and managing director of the Institute for Applied Building Physics (IABP) in Winterthur, Switzerland. Thomas Stahl is leading a working group within the International Association for Science and Technology of Building Maintenance and Monuments Preservation (WTA) and author of numerous publications in national and international journals.
