Known especially for advocating a design philosophy that incorporates human-centered design, state-of-the-art engineering, and sound economics to create an environment meeting the physical and emotional needs of its users. Swensson has written about his philosophy in A Passion for Design: Human-Centered Architecture and Synergenial Practice and taught and lectured widely on the future of architecture and healthcare facility design.
