Grandfather of "a very talented young lady and irresistible twins," Alan Christopher Simon has worked 60 years in book publishing as a designer and illustrator, including classics by Dickens, Joseph Conrad, John Steinbeck, Evelyn Waugh ... The rare delight of his brush has enlivened a long string of books during his seven years on staff at Doubleday, two years as art director and production manager for Clarkson Potter, twenty freelancing for at least 22 publishers, and twenty years at Easton Press as designer and illustrator. He lives with his partner, the distinguished watercolorist Wendy Hall, in the village of Leucadia, near San Diego.
