Tom Icon was born in a sleepy little town nestled high in the cool Rocky Mountains . He grew up in a rough and tumble mining community in the Great American South West. In high school he was an honor roll student and excelled in sports. He won seven state titles in football, wrestling and track, led his football team to a state championship, and was voted Athlete of the Year. Upon graduation Icon enlisted in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Conflict. He was voted outstanding recruit and went on to become a Company Commander who trained incoming recruits. At the end of his active duty Tom asked for and received a local separation in Spain at the age of twenty-three. His unquenchable curiosity and demand for adventure was the starting point of an adventure filled odyssey that spanned four continents and twenty-seven countries. During his solo travels Icon was exposed to some of the most interesting cultures and greatest works of art in the world. This has created a profound and lasting impact that is reflected in his artwork and storytelling.
