"Mr. H" (aka: Harold) has told stories his entire life, as a youth to entertain the family and as an adult to practice for the moment he was published. He has yet to run out of material and plans to keep himself busy writing for years to come. Harold's southern education by experience provides him with a vast storehouse of memories from which to pull stories, and his natural ability to spin-a-yarn, as they say down south, is truly story-telling. H. G. Shuler was born the summer of 1959 in Douglasville, Georgia, spent a few years in Augusta, Georgia before growing up in Cobb County Georgia where he attended South Cobb High School. Harold was the last of nine children; because of that his mother claims she ran out of names, so he was not honored with a middle name. He has chosen a middle initial "G" which stands for Gil, a shortened form of his mother's maiden name, Gilstrap. H. G. Shuler is his pen name since the story tellers were on his mother's side of the family after all.Today he and his wife, married in 1977, now reside in a small rural town in North Georgia known as Ellijay. This town reminds him of the small town where he grew up, Austell; a town which has since lost its small town feel as it was engulfed by Metro-Atlanta many years ago.
