Cathy Kiddle first became aware of the issue of education for travelling children while touring with a theatre company in the early 1970s. She began to work with Gypsy and Traveller families in London in 1976, and since then has continued this work as a teacher in Devon. In 1997 she was invited to be a member of the government's Advisory Group on Raising Ethnic Minority Pupil Achievement, and at present she is the co-ordinator of Devon Consortium Traveller Education Service.
