Graham Watts was born in the Croydon area and after school worked for a short time in industry before training to teach. He went on to teach Physics and Music at a comprehensive school in Crawley before training for the Baptist ministry at Spurgeon's College. From 1990 Graham served as the minister of Haywards Heath Baptist Church, later as senior minister in a team. In 2003 he moved to Cardiff to become the minister of Albany Road Baptist Church, while also teaching doctrine part-time at the University of Cardiff. He completed his PhD in 1998 after studying part-time at King's College, London, published in 2005 as Revelation and the Spirit. He joined the staff as tutor in Christian Doctrine and Ethics at Spurgeon's College in January 2010. Graham has always sought to root theology in the life of the local church, particularly in preparing the local church to engage in effective mission in contemporary culture. He is married to Susan, who is a primary school teacher; they have two grown-up children.
