AL KATZ, After receiving his BS at The Citadel, an MBA from Georgia Tech, and serving with distinction as an Army officer, Al Katz began a twenty-three year career with Atlanta based Ellman's Inc. He worked his way up the organizational ladder to fill senior level executive positions. During his five years as President and COO of the $90 million company, which at the time employed 1,800, he led his team in achieving record sales and profits until the company achieved its goal in 1985: the successful sale of the business. Katz founded The Next Level, LLC in 1985. Based in Charleston, SC, he has coached hundreds of organizations in the Southeast and beyond to help them rediscover the basics of their businesses and find the profitable growth and stability they desire. Katz holds an Endowed Chair in the School of Business at The Citadel. His son, daughter, and five grandchildren all dedicated as characters in the book live in Atlanta, GA.
