Peter Hain was brought up in South Africa and played a key role in the bitter campaigns of international protest and boycott which finally helped to bring about the end of apartheid. Peter Hain is now Labour MP for Neath, Chair of Tribune newspaper, and the author of thirteen books, most recently The Peking Connection, a political thriller with a South African dimension, and Ayes to the Left: A Future for Socialism, both published in 1995.
