Don Harris is a native Western North Carolinian and graduate of Western Carolina University with a degree in creative writing. Most of Don's career has been spent as a non-profit and educational fundraising professional. He has helped raise millions for five schools and two other non-profits. Since retiring, Don has reconnected with his creative side as a painter, woodcarver and writer. His paintings and Santa Claus carvings are now parts of hundreds of collections. His previous books include the murder mystery A Dying Flame and Mama's Quilt and Blizzard the White River Otter, a children's book about an orphaned river otter adopted by a North Carolina family after the great flood of 1916. When not writing, carving or painting, Don fills his time by tutoring immigrants in their journey to become US citizens, teaching fly fishing through the Pisgah Wildlife Education Center on his beloved Davidson River and by dancing to beach music at the American Legion Hall. Don's family includes a very smart grandson, two beautiful daughters and two great sons-in-laws who both are computer whizzes.
