Author Andrew Shepherd has spoken and written about the influences of African Americans for more than ten years. Shepherd has served many years as a United States Army Non-commissioned Officer and youth mentor while achieving his BA in Management-Leadership. As a volunteer teacher of Life-skills and Empowerment, Shepherd continues to enlighten today's youth on various opportunities, expectations, and environmental influences. Shepherd is also Chief of Operations of Hampton Roads mentoring group, Brothers on the Block. Shepherd's previous literary work, The Lamb of Jackson-Hamlet, depicts one man's character and willingness to suffer for the sake of his community and family. In Mirrors, Shepherd continues to address the importance of self-identity.
