G K (Ken) Saunders acquired a lifelong fascination for history at school in England. When he moved to New Zealand and then to Australia he was surprised to discover a different kind of history in the southern hemisphere. The Maori land wars of the 1860s were the background for his first book. He has written nearly 30 radio and TV serials, first for ABC and later for the BBC. His other great interest is science fiction and writing stories set in the future.
