Jonathan Greene, born in New York City in 1943, graduated from Bard College in 1965. Twice he spent time living in San Francisco before moving to Kentucky in 1966 to work for the university press where he became book designer and production manager. His Gnomon Press, founded in 1965, has published many literary and photographic works. He lives on a Kentucky River farm north of Frankfort with his wife, fiber artist and photographer Dobree Adams, and continues to work as a freelance book designer. He has been awarded fellowships for his writing from both the National Endowment for the Arts and the Kentucky Arts Council.
