Karen Harrison was born in Dungannon, Northern Ireland, to an Irish father and English mother. She grew up there and in Buckinghamshire. Having graduated in PPE from Balliol College, Oxford, she qualified as an accountant and worked in Indonesia and St Petersburg. In 2000 she returned to England and later moved to Ukraine, where she was finance director for a major TV channel. In 2008 she moved to Sofia, Bulgaria, where she was finance director for a large media and broadband company and lived until 2013. The forty-four poems in this book cover a period of seventeen years, from Borneo in 1994 to Sofia in 2011.
