Sonali Kumar retired from the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) after a distinguished service of over 36 years with the Government of India as well as the Government of Jammu and Kashmir. During this period, she held a number of assignments related to industry and commerce (including Public Sector Undertakings), textiles (handlooms & handicrafts), education, welfare, forests & environment, agriculture, horticulture, co-operatives, rural and urban development, health & medical education, anti-drought prone and anti-desert area development programmes, revenue, judicial, and even disaster relief operations.Sonali believes that her myriad experiences spanning all kinds of sectors have equipped her with the powers of ideation, problem-solving, out-of-box thinking, and strategic policy insights that only a long stint in IAS probably can endow one with.Post-retirement, Sonali is working with her son Prasenjeet putting out books in the "Cooking In A Jiffy" series. In her spare time, she doesn't mind mentoring or advising people who wish to benefit from other otherwise vast experience in public service.
