Major (Ret'd) Harold (Hal) Aage Skaarup, BFA, MA, CD, served as a Canadian Army Intelligence Officer from Feb 1971 to Aug 2011. He was a member of the Canadian Forces Parachute Team (1977- 1980) and served with the Canadian Airborne Regiment (1986-1989). He was deployed overseas Cyprus with the UN (1986), to Bosnia-Herzegovina with SFOR (1997), and in Germany with HQ CFE (1981-1983) and 4 CMBG (1989-1992). He instructed at the Intelligence School in Ontario and served with NORAD in Colorado (1999-2003). He served with the Kabul Multinational Brigade (KMNB), Kabul, Afghanistan. From 2006 to 2011 he was posted to 3 Area Support Group at 5 CDSB Gagetown, until his retirement in 2011. From 2015 to 2018, he was the Honorary Lieutenant-Colonel for 3 Intelligence Company, Halifax. Hal and his wife Faye have two sons and five grandchildren. They reside in Fredericton, New Brunswick, where he is a volunteer with two museums.
