Ron MacLuckie began skating at age seven on Sylvan Lake, a north Chicago area suburb, with his father's old hockey stick and puck he found in his grandmother's home in Des Plaines, Illinois. In Ron's adult life, he's enjoyed a career of not having one, having been a radio and television announcer, truck driver, fast food manager and owner, co-owner of a construction company and an Adult Education teacher while managing to play and coach hockey all his life.
