Michael Grove was born in Silver Spring, Maryland on June 20, 1943. He started his military aviation photography at age 11 with his dad at the annual Andrews airshows on Armed Forces Day. Using a Kodak Retina 1A, Michael started recording aviation history. Joining naval aviation in 1964, he was aircrew on the P-2 Neptune for several years, transitioned to the P-3 Orion, and then left the Navy in 1972. He worked in senior management in a few the next few decades in the rapidly growing electronic industry of Silicon Valley. Surviving a hemorrhaging malignant brain tumor operation, Michael was forced to retire in Jan 2010. Now retired in Las Vegas he still is photographing military aircraft, has co-authored several books, written several articles for The Hook magazine and continues to support many books and publications with photographs. He is best noted for his 50+ years of photographic coverage on Navy Carrier Air Wings deployed to NAS Fallon. During that time, he has made several hundred visits to the base.
