Denise Low, second Kansas Poet Laureate, has published over 20 books of award-winning poetry and essays, including Ghost Stories (Woodley), NATURAL THEOLOGIES: ESSAYS ABOUT LITERATURE OF THE NEW MIDDLE WEST (Backwaters Press, 2011), and MELANGE BLOCK (Red Mountain Press, 2014). Low was visiting professor at the University of Richmond and Kansas University. She taught at Haskell Indian Nations University, where she founded the creative writing program. She served the Association of Writers and Writing Programs as board president. She and her husband Thomas Pecore Weso co- publish Mammoth Publications.
