Bercuson is Professor of History and Director of the Center for Military and Strategic Studies at the University of Calgary. Herwig holds the Canada Research chair in Military and Strategic Studies at the University of Calgary.Burcuson and Herwig co-authored Deadly Seas: the story of the St Croix and the U 305 and the Battle of the Atlantic; The Destruction of the Bismarck (they were historical advisers on James Cameron's documentary about the Bismarck battleship).
