Rajagopal was born on 4th Feb. 1942 as the 5th son to Late S. Subbarayudu & Smt. Balatripura Sundaramma belonging to an agricultural family in Kethagudipi a remote village in Tarlupadu mandal, Prakasam Dist., A.P. After completing the primary education in his village, joined the B H School, Markapur and studied upto SSLC till 1957. He joined SRR & CVR College, Vijayawada and completed the PUC in 1958. He was selected and admitted to the Andhra Veterinary College, Tirupati in 1958 and obtained his B.V.Sc Degree from SV University in 1963. During his student tenure he was awarded the Best Student Volunteer prize for leading the famous Ongole bull as the champion of the Regional Cattle show held at Tirupati in 1962. He joined the services of A H Dept., Govt. of A.P. in 1963 and served in various capacities as Extension Officer AH. and Vety Asst. Surgeon till 1969. He obtained his MVSc Degree with specialization in Animal Nutrition after joining the UP College of Vet. Sci. & AH, Mathura from Agra University in 1971. He was awarded with the Senior Fellowship by the ICAR, New Delhi with the support and encouragement given by his mentor Late Dr. S.K. Talapatra and joined the Ph.D programme at IVRI, Bareilly after a stint of short service at IMSS, Rajahmundry in 1972 and obtained the Ph.D Degree in 1976 from Agra University. He joined his alma matter as Scientist S-l in the Animal Nutrition Division, IVRI, Izat Nagar, after qualifying himself in the examination conducted by the ASRB, New Delhi. He was instrumental and actively participated in the construction of 'animal calorimeter and respiration chamber' in collaboration with the fellow Scientist under Indo Danish project. Consequent upon his selection as Associate Professor, he joined the Col. Vet.Sci. & AH, SK Nagar, GAU, Gujarat in 1982, and was instrumental in the establishment of the Animal Nutrition Dept. and acted as Liaison Officer in the construction of the college building. He was selected as Professor and Head in 1996 and joined Coil. Vet. Sci. & AH, Anjora, Durg, CG State. He has many research papers to his credit at National and International Journal of repute and guided many students. He acted as the Principal Investigator for the RRPS-12 Project under World Bank aided NATP, and developed an area based mineral capsule for alleviating sterility and repeat reading. He was instrumental in popularizing the urea treatment of the paddy straw with the active co-operation of the State Vet. Dept. He acted as the Dean of the College in 2001-2002. He is a life member of several Scientific Societies. In recognition of his services he was awarded a certificate of Merit and Gold Medal by the American Biographical Institute, USA and International Biographical Center, Cambridge, England in the year 2000. He retired from active service in 2004 after attaining the superannuation at the age of 62 years and settled in Hyderabad leading a peaceful life.
