Ms. Johnson's first novel, Beat Until Stiff, was set in the restaurant world and was nominated for the 2003 Agatha Award for Best First Novel and was a Booksense pick. Her second book in this series, Roux Morgue, received a starred review from Publishers Weekly. She has written two Jane Austen pastiches, Pen and Prejudice and Resolution, which she indie published, For Thee, a biographical historical novel of the marriage of Pauline Pfeiffer to Ernest Hemingway won the 2021 Gold Award bestowed by the Royal Palm Literary Award from the Florida Writers Association for genre fiction, and is currently being shopped to publishers. She won the same award in 2022 in the crime-fiction category for Fog City, her noir crime novel set in Prohibition-era San Francisco. Ms. Johnson has recently signed a three-book deal for her Fog City Noir series with Level Best Books. Fog City will debut in the summer of 2024. She is currently President of Mystery Writers of America's Northern California chapter.
