Stephen Volk is best known as writer of the BBC's notorious Halloween hoax Ghostwatch and the ITV paranormal drama series Afterlife. His other screenplays include The Awakening (2011), Midwinter of the Spirit (2015), and Gothic starring Natasha Richardson as Mary Shelley. He is a BAFTA winner, two-time British Fantasy Award winner, and the author of three collections: Dark Corners, Monsters in the Heart, and The Parts We Play, while The Dark Masters Trilogy consists of stories featuring Peter Cushing, Alfred Hitchcock and Dennis Wheatley respectively.
