David Johnson is an entrepreneur and author who was born and raised in Maryland. After studying business at university, he jumped at the chance of taking a job in New York, believing that the city and its endless opportunities would be the making of him. 14 years later, disillusioned with climbing the endless corporate ladder, he quit his job and found himself unemployed for the first time in his life. It was while he was having a beer one evening, wondering what he was going to do with the rest of his life, that a friend said, do what you love for a living and you'll never work a day in your life. It was at that moment that David knew exactly what he would do. He had already dabbled in the Stock Market with mixed success, but now he decided to invest in earnest, with the savings he had accumulated. He knew he had to get it right and knew he couldn't afford to make any mistakes with what little he had and so he researched it in every book and paper he could find. Two months later and armed with enough knowledge, David made his first foray into buying stocks. His success was almost instant, and before long, he had more money than he knew what to do with. He still made mistakes that he hadn't expected, but instead of putting them down to chance, he examined what had gone wrong and decided to write about it, so that others would benefit from his experience. David still invests today, even though he doesn't need to. It helps him to spot other potential pitfalls that he can then write about, helping others to navigate the often treacherous stock market and avoid the most common mistakes. David lives in Brooklyn with his wife and their two children. He enjoys baseball, cycling and photography, and when he gets the chance, he likes to eat out in a fancy restaurant with an expensive bottle of wine.
