Sophie Smith continues to manage and run for the charity she started with her partner Ash - to date the charity has raised $2.5 million, directly benefitting approximately 4000 babies, and has had over 1500 runners. In 2017 the Running for Premature Babies Foundation began a new chapter, becoming a registered charitable foundation with a vision to provide a better chance of survival for premature babies and celebrate all prematurely born children, both living and lost. Sophie lives in Sydney.Deborah FitzGerald is a senior journalist, editor and writer who has worked across all media platforms including print, radio, television and digital. She has worked for major media organisations including the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, Channel Nine and News Corp. She is currently editor of a news website, centralnews.com.au, based at the University of Technology, Sydney. Deborah won a Varuna/Harper Collins Manuscript Development Award in 2006 and her short story The Anniversary was published in the Best Australian Stories 2011 anthology. She completed a Master of Arts in Creative Writing at UTS in the same year. Deborah lives in Clovelly, Sydney, with her husband, Mark Waugh, and their two sons, Mac and Finn.
