R. Pat Day is senior pastor of First United Methodist Church, Shreveport, LA.
Pat is a familiar face on local TV. The Sunday worship services are broadcast each week on the local NBC affiliate KTAL and on the ABC affiliate KTBS, reaching thousands of people throughout Louisiana. In addition, Dr. Day can be heard each weekday on KVKI-FM and KRUF-FM sharing "Perceptions," sixty-second, thought provoking and inspirational messages.
Dr. Day is an ordained Elder of the Louisiana Conference of The United Methodist Church and has served as an alternate delegate to the Jurisdictional Conference of the United Methodist Church. He presently serves as Chairman of the Louisiana Council on Finance and Administration.
Dr. Day is extremely involved in his community where he has served as president of the Marshall Rotary Club and is presently a member of the Downtown Shreveport Rotary Club. Furthermore, he has received the Henry Bowden Senior Preaching Award from the Louisiana Moral and Civic Foundation. In 2002 the National Association of Social Workers Shreveport Region presented the Public Citizen of the Year Award to Dr. Day where he was recognized for the numerous activities and outreach programs that First Methodist provides for the citizens of the Shreveport-Bossier area.
He is a native of Elkhart, Texas and a graduate of SMU's Perkins School of Theology where he earned hhis MDiv. and DMin.
