He came to prominence with the low-budget comedy Clerks, which he wrote, directed, co-produced, and acted in. Playing the character Silent Bob, of the stoner duo Jay & Silent Bob, he appeared in Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back, and more.
