LANNY McDONALD was born in Hanna, Alberta. He played junior hockey in Lethbridge, Medicine Hat and Calgary before he was drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs, where he became a high-scoring right winger. McDonald was also the captain of the Calgary Flames, and his leadership helped shape a Stanley Cup-winning team. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1992 and named chair of its board in July of 2015. He lives in Calgary with his wife, Ardell, four children and seven grandchildren.
