Carlo Collodi (1826-1890), born Carlo Lorenzini, was an Italian author who originally studied theology before embarking on a writing career. He started as a journalist contributing to both local and national periodicals. He produced reviews as well as satirical pieces influenced by contemporary political and cultural events.
