The series follows a group known as the Guild run by matriarch Muthka Parish. This group focuses on helping those who can't find justice through the legal channels. Muthka adopts children whose upbringing is less than ideal and trains them to become spies.
This instalment was quite intriguing. The heroine, Gracie, is a computer geek and is the owner of a nightclub. She's been second guessing her involvement in the Guild. Her second guessing led to her sending an anonymous email to the FBI. A decision which led to Special Agent Leif McAlister aka Dusty infiltrating the Guild with the hope of bringing down Muthka Parish. However, after meeting Grace, he knew he would do anything to protect, even if it meant walking away from the investigation.
Reckless Grace delivered sufficient suspense, drama, action and romance to keep die-hearted romantic suspense fans entertained. Danger, secrets and betrayal pervaded the story. It's hard knowing who to trust when someone is trying to kill you. A fact Grace will soon learn when someone made several attempts on her life.
Grace suffered several losses throughout her life. Losses which would break a weak person. Grace, however, was anything but weak. She is a strong, resilient and smart woman with a kind heart.
Dusty's backstory provided insight into his determination to put an end to the Guild's operations. However, the deeper he got involved, the more he recognized how much he misunderstood their agenda.
In the end, Reckless Grace delivered a well blended tale of romance, suspense and intrigue. There were a few dark elements, which fortunately were not overwhelming. There were parts where the pacing lagged, but that did not take away from the story.
Fans of the genre looking for a well-balanced romantic suspense will enjoy this latest offering from Stewart. This review was originally posted on Totally Addicted to Reading
