Justin Cronin remains one of my firm favourite authors, and The Ferryman did not disappoint. It's an intelligent, twisty, perfectly-paced sci-fi thriller that had me thoroughly engrossed.
The Ferryman is full of flawed characters, nail-biting action, and intelligent yet subtle musings on the nature of humanity and art. It's morally grey and borrows elements from other sci-fi greats, but weaves them into something new to great effect.
It's not a short read, but it never felt like it outstayed its welcome. Every scene felt deliberate and intentional, and came together in a satisfying way. The Ferryman is the perfect blend of thought-provoking and entertaining, and I loved every moment I spent in its world.
