Maybe I'm old but I can't stand the use of the c*** word, particularly in writing. And within the first chapter this is what was used. To describe Edward. So I wasn't really rating it. Or at least it lost a star for it. I almost put it back down and decided to give up on this series but I kept with it because I really thought I'd love this book. The whole concept of cosplayers being nemesis' and then falling in love sounded fantastic and it was a decent read if you can ignore the crass swearing. And the fact that Edward is a total jerk for absolutely no reason at the start. Yeah there's apparently "reasons" but I didn't rate it. And besides when they discuss it, Izzy apparently needs to apologise as well - I read that scene he wasn't a jerk. He didn't even say anything besides his name.

The thing was I read the first book and I really liked Edward so I found it really hard to reconcile why he would be such a jerk. It irritated me a lot. The whole basis of their hate relationship was just so ridiculous and it was hard to get behind. Once they started talking though it got better. Then their relationship changed to snarkiness and fluff and I could get behind it. Plus the conversations between them were rather funny by the end of the book. The time jumps between the different cons worked well to allow a gradual build up to their relationship and not appear to be all instalove. I liked the glimpses of the characters from the first book. Overall 3.5 stars.
