Will Diane and Robin make it back to their own world?
Diane and Robin
Diane Marsh is the oldest of the Marsh girls and is usually the one that is getting them into trouble. Well, more of she's getting herself into trouble all the time for not doing what she's told. She likes to go fast especially when she's riding her horse, Pepper, and of course, playing pranks. I like Diane as she seems cool and knows how to push her dad's buttons correctly. She and Robin are avid readers. The last Marsh girl happens to be Robin, and she's the baby. She likes to watch the scenery, go bird watching, and collect rocks. Robin is the one I relate to the most, I guess. I don't collect gems or anything like that or strive to be a geologist, but being the baby of my own family, I get where she is coming from. These two girls are two peas in a pod, and they aren't that far from each other either. The Marsh girls are hilarious.
The Story
It's summer vacation for Diane and Robin, and toward the end of their holiday as well. They decide to go for a ride on their horses to see some birds, but instead, they get kidnapped. Now Diane and Robin are trying to figure out how to get back to their world and their dad. I feel so bad for the girls when they find out they aren't in their own time. Not only are they trying to get back to their dad, but William Marsh, their dad, is trying to find them and trying not to freak out too much about losing them.
Four Stars
The Captain's Daughters by Doreen D. Berger is about two girls trying to make it back to their world. They make friends along the way and get into trouble. What do you expect from two twelve-year-old sisters? Diane and Robin's story is interesting, and I enjoyed this novel. I am giving it four stars and a recommendation.
