I love reading about strong female characters and how their past experiences shape them into better women. Sarah is a headstrong alpha wolf who doesn’t want to conform to the structured Pack life of wolf society. She wants to be free to live and love on her terms.
She finds that love with Erik, a very yummy alpha wolf, who just happens to have three equally yummy alpha wolf brothers (which hopefully will be showcased in future books!).
Sarah kicks major ass in this book. I can’t tell you how many times I laughed out loud and silently cheered her on when she defended herself and her choices. And Erik is so dreamy! He is easy-going, polite, generous, patient, and supports her independence and her need for a life free of Pack structure. Sarah is hesitant to trust Erik but soon finds out that he is genuine in his actions and in his pursuit of her trust and her heart. Erik and Sarah complimented each other so well and I loved watching their journey.
I also enjoyed watching the love interest unfold with the secondary characters, Stephanie, a human physician’s assistant new to the area, and Abraham, Erik’s oldest brother and a former Navy SEAL. Abraham is stone-cold serious but is lost when he encounters the beautiful spitfire. Stephanie and Sarah are a lot alike; both fighters with a snarky wit and both on the run from past transgressions.
The story captured and held my attention the entire time and the only downside is that I have to wait until September for the second book to come out!
