"The Vampire's Assistant" has a neat concept. Jon is dead broke with no job, and he's been crashing at his sister's place for quite awhile. He's finally got an interview, but everything that could possibly go wrong goes wrong. The final straw was an old woman slipping on some ice and landing right on top of him. He broke her fall, but he missed the interview. After that, he gets a phone call from that same old woman (And just how did she get his number??) telling him that she's gotten him an interview for the position of personal assistant to NIkolas Vaile, a man who owns a lucrative research company. He's very rich, and he's HOT! Anyway...through a series of pretty funny events, Jon finds himself in Nikolas's bed, feeling groggy, but extremely attracted to his rescuer.
That's it. I think I've given you way too much information already. I just want to go over a few things that made me enjoy "The Vampire's Assistant" so much. First of all, it was a rather short read. I was in the mood for something sexy that I'd be able to finish before I drifted off into a satisfied sleep, and that is exactly what I got. Next, I loved the characters. They all fit together nicely, from Nikolas and Jon, to the background characters. Third, there was a nice underlying plot where you sensed that there is danger lurking around every corner, and Nikolas and his awesome head of security, Louis, must protect Jon and their families as well as themselves.
A separate paragraph is needed to talk about the chemistry between Nikolas and Jon. Right off the bat they generate a LOT of heat. They're explosive when they're near each other, especially since their bond is sealed, and they must remain close, or they feel the distance in a physical way. The sex is off the charts. Not only that, it's romantic and sweet. It warmed my heart to see how tenderly Nikolas treated Jon, and how, once he accepted this new life of his, Jon begins to take care of Nickolas as much as he's taken care of.
This book is a nice little gem. If you like your vampires hot, your Manlove sweet and sexy, your characters fitting perfectly into the plot, and a an ending that leaves you smiling and wanting more, then "The Vampire's Assistant" is for you. I'm giving this a very solid four stars.
