I don't really like when novellas don't add to a story in any real, necessary way. Yes, we get an insight to Jack's world in this, but it's not needed for the main story. The characters aren't more developed here and only the fantastical elements of the main story have any real substance to them.

I'd pass on this unless you need to see Jack's POV.

(Also, I feel like maybe the other world Jack saw is not 100% an illusion? Like, I feel like Ancrum kept that door open because how on earth did Jack know of the stone in The Wicker King? And the legend written here is definitely not a 1 to 1 to what had happened in Real Life so that makes me wonder if perhaps the legend WAS true and Jack was tapping into part of the legend, remembered by the world as the last lines tell it, only living them as if they were the characters. I dunno, maybe I'm just crazy af)
