Emma was 14 when she was kidnapped. raped and turned into a were-ocelot against her will. After her family rejects her, at 15, she runs away and survives on her own. Wheeler is a were-lion who found Emma in New Mexico and brought her back to Colorado to live with the Clan he heads. Because of her intimacy issues (understandably from being raped/held captive/rejected, he doesn't tell her that she is his life mate.

Emma, who became Wheeler's second after challenging (and beating) his old second, settles into her life with the Clan. She becomes the liaison between the Clan and the solitary were's. It was during one of these meetings where she gets kidnapped by a group of mysterious men.

I won't reveal anything else after this point. But I will say, my heart broke for Emma. To endure so much at such a young age, its no wonder that she didn't trust anyone or her feelings for Wheeler.

There was no sex in this book (well it was alluded to at the end) but there was plenty of action. The love story between Emma and Wheeler was touching because of his willingness to ride out her working through her issues.

Will I read this book again? Yes.
