"The Zoo Story" by American playwright Edward Albee was written in 1958. The play was originally titled "Peter and Jerry."
This one act play was Edward Albee's first play. He completed the writing of the play in just three weeks.
The most significant themes of the play are loneliness, isolation, social disparity, dehumanization in a commercial world, and miscommunication as anathematization. There are several other minor themes as well.
