Proceed With Caution:
This book contains the aftermath of a natural disaster and head trauma.
The Basics:
Barbarian's Heart is a direct follow-up to Babarian's Taming and Aftershocks, so you'll want to read those at the very least. This book follows Pashov and Stacy.
My Thoughts:
I was super interested in what was to come for the tribe after the ending of Barbarian's Taming. We also finally get to spend time with Pashov and Stacy, who were one of the first couples to resonate. They've already had their son, but Pashov doesn't remember him! Or her! Or really anything of the last few years! There's just a big blank where his mate and son should be. Stacy is likewise feeling empty. She wants her mate back! Is Pashov still the same man he was before the accident? It doesn't feel like it.
Barbarian's Heart was super good. It seems like it would be pretty heavy since Pashov is dealing with amnesia, and the whole tribe is currently homeless and traveling through a blizzard. But it's actually quite sweet and hopeful. Once Pashov realizes that he needs to be there for Stacy and Pacy, he tries his best to be the mate that Stacy wants. Stacy also has to learn that he's still the same person inside, he just doesn't have their memories. They can make new ones! However, it's hard to woo your partner when they're freezing and tired.
I also really liked the last chapters of Barbarian's Heart where we get a tour of their new home. It's an abandoned village in a canyon. We don't learn who was there previously, but there's some interesting clues hidden around. Of course, the priority is getting the place livable and stocked for the upcoming brutal season. But I know we'll find out more soon! This one does end without any hint of who the next couple is, which makes sense since all of the women are currently mated.
